Meet Elijah.
Elijah is a bright, charismatic 9-year-old who loves being outside. Elijah lives with Cerebral Palsy, which affects his balance, muscle control, and mobility. In his daily life he relies on a Crocodile walker to move around safely and maintain his independence.
Because of these mobility challenges, Elijah is not able to ride a traditional bicycle like many children his age. Without specialized support and positioning, a standard bike simply isn’t safe or accessible for him. An adaptive bicycle designed for children with mobility differences would allow Elijah to experience something that most kids take for granted; the simple joy and freedom of riding a bike.
For Elijah, an adaptive therapeutic bike would be much more than recreation. It would be a powerful tool to support his physical development and therapy goals. Pedaling helps strengthen the muscles in his legs and core, improve coordination and balance, and build endurance. Activities like cycling can also support joint movement and encourage active participation in exercise in a way that feels fun rather than like therapy.
Beyond the physical benefits, a bike would mean inclusion. Elijah would have the opportunity to ride alongside other children, explore his neighborhood, and participate in outdoor play in a way that is currently very difficult for him. Experiences like this help build confidence, independence, and a sense of belonging.
A bike may seem simple, but for Elijah it represents opportunity; the chance to grow stronger, be more independent, and experience a joyful part of childhood that many children enjoy every day.
Your support would give Elijah not just a bike, but the freedom to move, play, and thrive!
Elijah has mobility challenges and currently uses a crocodile walker in daily living. So because of this he is unable to use a typical bike, he requires adaptations and modifications just to be able to experience a simple joy. And while a bike should be for pure enjoyment an adaptative therapeutic bike would also serve in supporting Elijah's physical development strengthening his body as well as aiding in muscle development.
