Fundraising for Mason G's Freedom Concepts Discovery Series

Our four-year-old child lives with a severe form of spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), a rare neuromuscular disease that causes progressive muscle weakness. While many children his age are learning to ride bikes independently, he has never owned one he could safely use on his own.

An adaptive bike would offer so much more than recreation. It would provide therapeutic movement to help maintain muscle strength, improve circulation, and support joint mobility — all critically important for children with SMA. Regular, supported cycling can also build endurance in a safe, low-impact way.

Beyond the physical benefits, a bike would give him something every child deserves: independence, inclusion, and joy. The ability to ride alongside siblings and friends fosters confidence, social connection, and a sense of belonging.

For a child who navigates so many physical limitations daily, having something he can control himself would be empowering in ways that are hard to measure but deeply meaningful.

This isn’t just about a bike. It’s about freedom, participation, and giving him the same childhood moments other children experience — safely and independently.

Thank you for helping us to get Mason rolling on his first bicycle this summer!
