My son is 10 years old and lives with hypophosphatasia, a rare and painful bone disease that has already caused him to break 12 bones. He has fractured his femur twice, and because of that, he now walks with a significant gait and cannot move quickly like other children his age. Something as simple as trying to keep up with friends can put him at risk for another break. As his mother, I live with the constant fear that one wrong step could mean another hospital visit. He loves music and legos.
