Makenzie enjoys playing outside with her sister and a bike gives her freedom to be like other children on our street and have independence while being included.
Makenzie was born a warrior at 24 weeks gestation with the help of her primary nurses in the Nicu. She has overcome so many complications from a stroke at birth, being ventilator dependent and so many intestinal surgeries that she was able to finally come home right before her 2nd birthday. She was diagnosed with hypotonia which is weak muscle tone and some doctors didnt think she would ever walk. She started to walk unassisted at 4.5 years old. She still has weak muscle tone and her muscles fatigue easily. This bike will help keep her muscles from fatiguing and continue to get stronger.
