Sloan was diagnosed with CLN1 Batten Disease in 2023 when she was just barely 2 years old. It is a broad class of rare, fatal, inherited disorders of the nervous system. As of right now, there is no treatment. Sloan has lost the abilities of speech, vision, and muscle control. She has severe feeding difficulties that require her to have a feeding tube, she has chronic respiratory issues, and recurrent seizures. Children with CLN1 disease usually do not survive past childhood.
