Fundraising for Ryder B's Rifton Adaptive Tricycles

Ryder is 8 years old. He has multiple medical diagnoses; including Chiari Malformation, Syringomyelia, Intracranial Hypertension, Ehler’s Danlos Syndrome, Autism & more. To date, Ryder has undergone seven brain surgeries. These conditions cause too much spinal fluid on the brain, low muscle tone, production of too much collagen & scar tissue. His gait/balance are off. Ryder has a stent in his 4th Ventricle to the Subarachnoid Space, his C1 removed, a craniectomy, and a titanium plate. He has a Syrinx (spinal fluid build up) at his C2-T6, L1&L2, S1&S2. Having a bicycle/tricycle means that he can work on his core as well as having the ability to be more inclusive with his family. It would help with his balance, gait, muscle tone and would be a fantastic “tool” to assist in comprehension and following directions. I believe that this adaptive bike would be a game changer for Ryder and our family. His Neurologist has written up an order for an adaptive bike, but insurance won’t assist. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Ryder has had seven brain surgeries. He is in therapies approximately forty hours a week. He has low muscle tone and produces too much collagen. The Ehler’s Danlos Syndrome (EDS) makes his gait/balance off and causes his body to produce too much scar tissue. His body is more like a cooked spaghetti noodle. Having Syringomyelia means that Ryder has a Syrinx (think of spinal fluid build up cysts) from his C2-T6, L1&L2 and S1&S2. There are many activities he CANNOT do. This would be LIFECHANGING.
