Fundraising for Layla M's Freedom Concepts Discovery Series

This is Layla! She is a 7 year old with cerebral palsy who loves school and to be around people. She is definitely a social butterfly!

Layla was born with a congenital heart defect and at 3 days old required her first open heart surgery. Since then she's needed a second open heart surgery, a pacemaker, and was diagnosed with a seizure disorder. She also receives all of her nutrition through a feeding tube. With the wonderful care that she has received from her doctors she has been able to stay healthy but she is still developmentally delayed. She currently receives therapy in and out of school to help as much as possible with her physical limitations.

Layla would highly benefit from having an adaptive bike because it is an activity that will help strengthen her core and increase her range of motion. She enjoys being outdoors and having the wind against her face. It would be very exciting to be able to see her bike riding with her cousins and creating new memories while working on her strength.

We never imagined Layla would ever ride a bike, so when we were first introduced to adaptive bikes we became very excited. She would definitely benefit physically because it is an activity that will constantly move her legs and increase her range of motion. It would also help to introduce her to this new activity that she would be able to share with our entire family.
