We have gotten so many more donations than I could ever have expected! Thank you all so much! Just to give you a little insight to Benji's beginnings, and I have shared this with some of the donors already. Benji had a rare chromosome disorder, as well as cerebral palsy, and congenital bone disease. He was given 25 hours to live at birth. It took six days before the hospital admitted they had no idea how to properly care for him and he needed to move to a specialty children's hospital. While there at 28 days old Benji experienced his first set of surgeries. Benji finally came home at 36 days old. We were told starting at 4 months old he would never be able to move his arms or legs and was considered failure to thrive. Benji learned trunk control at age 4 through horse back riding while in physical therapy! Benji began clapping for the first time at age 7. Age 9 he learned to fist bump and high five. Benji learned to crawl on his hands and knees at age 11. Winning this bike would be a tremendous blessing for him. Our goal is to get some strength in his legs eventually teaching him to stand with minimal assistance.
